Woman forced into van at knifepoint after failed escape

The van left the scene along Lawrence Drive in Nerang.

A woman has been found after allegedly being kidnapped at knifepoint on the Gold Coast.

Queensland Police released an urgent statement on Saturday night after witnesses saw a woman try to escape a white van in Nerang.

Just before 6pm, the woman fled from the passenger seat of the vehicle and flagged down a black van on Pappas Way.

Police said the woman was climbing into the passenger seat of the black van when it was rammed a number of times by the driver of the white van, pushing the black van into the gutter.

The driver of the white van approached the black vehicle and brandished a knife, forcing the woman out.

The woman returned to the white van, which drove off on Lawrence Drive in Nerang.

Police located the woman about six hours later in the neighbouring suburb of Carrara.

They said a witness may have filmed the incident on a mobile phone and they are calling for anybody with phone or dashcam footage to contact police immediately.

It is unknown whether the woman sustained any injuries but police said a man and a woman were assisting with their inquiries.

Investigations are ongoing and anybody with information should contact Policelink on 131 444 or phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
