Woman fined for holding birthday party for 10 people in Mansfield

A woman who held a birthday party in Mansfield has been fined for breaking Coronavirus regulations.

The woman claimed it was within the guidelines to hold a birthday party of ten people for her boyfriend.

Officers attended the incident in Mount Pleasant, Mansfield just after 3am on Sunday, October 25.

A police spokesperson said: "The 40-year-old party host was issued with a fixed penalty notice after she became argumentative and refused to take advice."

Fines of £10,000 can be issued for parties of more than thirty people, while smaller gatherings can be subject to fixed penalty notices of £200.

Superintendent Paul Winter said: "Over the last week Nottinghamshire Police have attended a number of parties as we have previously reported and issued a number of Fixed Penalty Notices.

"When we attend a party we will firstly encourage people to disperse safely.

"We will seek to identify the organisers at the time, but if not possible, we will continue enquires later.

"We would appeal to all local residents to comply with the Covid-19 regulations which are there to protect everyone."
