Woman fined after being spotted 'driving erratically' in lashing rain on motorway

A woman has been fined after she was spotted 'driving erratically' on the motorway. Sophie Manley, 25, was caught driving at high speed on the carriageway in the lashing rain in February.

In dashcam footage shared by Greater Manchester Police, the police car can be seen driving at speeds of 108 mph along the M60 and M56 as it follows Sophie driving along the motorway.

The incident was captured on camera shortly after 11pm on February 23 of this year. Police said they had sighted her 'driving erratically' at 'high speed' in the 'poor weather'.

At Tameside Magistrates Court, Sophie Manley, 25, from Glossop was convicted of driving without due care and attention on Monday (October 31). She was fined £627 and issued five penalty points on her license following the offence.

GMP's Traffic page on Twitter shared the dashcam footage of the high-speed chase, as they wrote: "COURT RESULT. Sophie Manley, 25yrs of Glossop was convicted of Driving without due care and attention at Tameside Mags on 31st Oct 22.

"Fined £627 and issued 5 penalty points. Manley was sighted driving erratically, at high speed in poor weather on the M60/M56."
