Police are reminding Hunter residents to do the right thing in relation to COVID-19 public health orders, after a woman received a hefty fine in the valley.
It comes as the number of Coronavirus cases in the Hunter-New England region continued to climb on Wednesday, with 93 new cases recorded.
Police across the Hunter are continuing to conduct checks on people who have been ordered to self-isolate.
Officers issued a Muswellbrook woman a $5000 fine earlier this week after investigating a tip-off from the community that she was failing to self-isolate, as required.
In an appeal on social media for further co-operation from the community, Hunter Valley Police District said it was "vital" for people to comply if they have been directed to self-isolate, particularly with the anticipated relaxing of restrictions across NSW from Monday.
Fines continue to apply to people who breach COVID-19 public health orders, including disobeying an isolation order.
Meanwhile, police across the Hunter are trying to reduce the possibility of COVID-19 exposure at the region's police stations amid growing case numbers.
Police have seen an increasing number of Coronavirus-related inquiries and are asking for people to direct questions to the COVID-19 hotline on 13 77 88 in the first instance.
People looking to use the Justice of the Peace service are being asked to call ahead before attending a police station.
The usual wearing of facemasks, social distancing and QR code check-ins are also required for those attending police stations, unless an exemption applies.
