Woman finds safe hidden under carpet in new home - and it's been there for 20 years

There's something inherently mysterious about a safe as, without the code, there's no way to know what's inside.

One woman has been left scratching her head over what could be inside a safe she uncovered recently in her new home.

A TikTok user named Liz, who posts under @imthefookinlizardking has gone viral online after sharing a clip of her discovery.

Posting on the video-sharing app, they explained: "I bought a house in November and just found a hidden safe in the floor.

"The house was built in the late 70s. How the heck do I open it?"

She went on to explain that she found the safe while hoovering the carpet, as she noticed "little frayed" pieces on the floor.

Liz has since messaged several locksmiths and the company that originally made the safe to find out if they could help her open it.

Lots of locksmiths told her that they would not "mess" with a floor safe.

More than six million people have since watched the video and are desperate to know what's inside the safe.

After speaking to numerous people, the TikToker was put in touch with a man named Jim, who is known for being able to crack difficult safe combinations.

Liz made an appointment for Jim to come out and take a look at the safe, meanwhile social media users couldn't help but speculate about what was inside.

Some thought there might be a secret tunnel under the floor, while others joked the woman's dog looked "suspicious" like he knew more than what he was letting on.

However, everyone was eventually disappointed to learn that the safe was empty.

In a finale video on TikTok, Liz showed Jim opening the safe - only to find nothing inside. Tragic.

Liz didn't seem too upset though, knowing that she now had a cool safe under the floor she could use whenever she wanted.
