Mrs Singh falls to the ground and uses a stick to beat the leopard away while it continually claws at her.

The big cat backs off as she continues to hit it, before other people then come to her aid.

She suffered scratch marks to her face, elbow, arm, back and leg, but her injuries were luckily minor.

The incident was the second leopard attack in the last three days in the area.

Now the forest department have installed 10 CCTV cameras in the area, authorities have confirmed.

Gajanan Hire, in charge of the Thane Forest Division, told the the Times of India that the claw marks clearly hints that the attack was carried out by a sub-adult leopard.

“Immediately after the first attack, we sought permission from the principal chief conservator of forests to trap the animal," they said.

"There is a protocol to be followed before we can lay the trap and which is being done."
