A woman fought off five attackers during an attempted rape in a south London park.

The woman was walking through Burgess Park in Southwark between 2am and 3am on Saturday, June 13, when she was set upon.

A prolonged struggle ensued and the woman managed to fight them off, police said as they launched an appeal for witnesses.

She was sexually assaulted during the attack.

One of the men was described as wearing white trainers, light denim jeans and a red hooded jacket. His hair was plaited, officers said.

A second suspect is said to have been aged in his 30s.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and drivers who may have taken dashcam footage of the surrounding roads in the timeframe of the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference Cad 1380/13Jun20. Alternatively, tweet @MetCC or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
