Woman fighting for life after she was struck by car

A woman is fighting for life in a critical condition in hospital after she was hit by a car.

An air ambulance was seen landing on Hunts Cross School playing fields as emergency services were called to to reports of a crash at 5pm on Saturday night.

The woman was struck in Hunts Cross near the junction of Hillfood Avenue and Woodend Avenue, police said.

A spokesman for the force said the victim was hit by a Vauxhall Insignia.

On Sunday morning, a spokesman said the female pedestrian was in a critical condition in hospital.

The spokesman said: "Officers were called to Hillfoot Avenue just after 5pm after receiving reports that a Vauxhall Insignia car had collided with a woman pedestrian.

"The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries."
