Woman fighting for life after being struck by motorbike in Dublin city centre

A woman is in hospital fighting for her life after a bike crashed into her in Dublin city centre.

The woman, who is understood to have been crossing the road at the time, was hit by a motorcycle near Connolly Train Station on Dublin's Amien Street this afternoon.

The motorbike is understood to have come into contact with the woman and then subsequently hit an An Post van at around 1:20pm.

The woman has been rushed to Dublin's Mater Hospital, where her condition is understood to be critical at this time.

The motorcyclist has also been taken to hospital - but his injuries are not understood to be life threatening.

Several road closures are currently in place around Amien Street as gardai examine the scene.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision at Amiens Street, Dublin 1.

“A number of local roads are currently closed and local diversions are in place, with delays expected for road users in the area.

“No further information is available at this time.”
