A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being knocked down by a cyclist in Newcastle city centre.
Emergency services were called to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a cyclist on Neville Street, outside Central Station, at around 4.30pm on Monday.
Paramedics treated a 52-year-old woman at the scene before transporting her to hospital, where she remains with life-threatening injuries.

Specialist family liaison officers are currently supporting the woman’s family.
Police have launched an investigation into the serious incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Inspector Chris Blyth, of Northumbria Police’s motor patrols department, said: “This is a very serious incident that has left a woman fighting for her life.
“We are determined to establish what happened in those moments leading up to the collision and we have already spoken with a number of witnesses and reviewed CCTV.
“We are now asking for anyone yet to get in touch to contact us immediately. We are also extremely keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage capturing what has happened, or of the wider area at that time.”
