Woman fighting for her life and dog killed after cows trample on them

A woman is fighting for her life after she was trampled by cows that also killed her dog.

A passerby raised the alarm after finding the walker in a field in Sheldon, near to Magpie Mine in the Peak District on Tuesday at around 3.45pm.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Sheffield, by air ambulance where she remains in a critical condition.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “We were called after a passer-by saw a woman and her dog being attacked by cows in a field near the village of Sheldon.

"Police arrived as did air ambulance and the woman was taken to hospital in Sheffield, she remains in a critical condition.

"Her dog had been killed by cows.”

The official Twitter account for Sheldon Village thanked Derbyshire Police and paramedics for rescuing the victim and rushing her to hospital, as well as wishing the woman well.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the lady who was very badly injured by cows in the fields to the rear of our village,” it said.
