A woman in her 30s is fighting for her life after an assault at a residence in Arklow, County Wicklow.
The serious assault took place at around 4.25am this morning.
She was brought to St Vincent's Hospital with serious injuries and is currently in a critical condition.
Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry in connection with this assault.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí in Wicklow are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.
Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the Arklow area between 4am and 5am to contact Gardaí.
