Woman felt like she had 'won the jackpot' after discovery on Boxing Day walk

A woman was delighted after making a surprise discovery on her Boxing Day walk.

Debbie Fackey was walking through Willow Park in Newton-le-Willows when she found the pleasant surprise.

She stumbled across the crocheted Christmas decoration and note on a walk through the park on Boxing Day

Debbie told the ECHO : "Finding this little crocheted item today, really lifted me. I'm so thankful to whoever left it out for me to find."

Having lost her mum to cancer in 2016, Debbie now dedicates her time to raising awareness of pancreatic cancer, but can become overwhelmed at times.

She said: "I often struggle with my emotions, after losing my Mum, so fast to this disease. Finding the crocheted item today, it being purple and me being emotional, made it so very magical."

Alongside the crocheted flower decoration, there was a handwritten note, left for someone to find as they walk through the park.

The note features a poem and instructions to take the gift home if it made you smile.

Debbie added: "I was made up. I always say, I'm not somebody who wins every time but with this I won the jackpot!

"I've added this to my Christmas tree, and I never thought about placement when I did, but looking at it, mum has put it exactly where it needed to be."
