A woman who felt her foot "fizzing" was horrified to lift up her jeans and find a leech was sucking her blood.
Zoe, from Australia, posted a video on Chinese social media app TikTok of herself screaming in terror as she discovered the bloodthirsty creature, according to the Daily Star.
The video was watched more than 15 million times.
Zoe felt a strange sensation on her foot.
In the footage she pulls up her jeans, looks at her sock and screamed: "Oh my God there's a huge lump there – Aaah!"
Zoe then panics and screams again before she sys: "I don't want to look!"
She then pulls up her sock and finds the chilling sight of fresh blood dribbling down her leg.
When she moves the sock more she sees a slimy leech sucking away at her blood.
Zoe then screeches in pure terror and lets go of the sock.
A male friend intervened to flick the creature off her so it landed on the rug.
Zoe then picked up the leech with a piece of tissue.
Viewers online felt very sorry for Zoe, with many saying they would have screamed more or fainted.
One user commented: "This is so terrifying I'm so sorry you had to go through this for real."
"I don't think I would ever recover mentally", confessed a second viewer.
A third user wrote: "I would have passed out tbh [to be honest]."
"If y'all think this was a crazy reaction let's hope this never happens to me", wrote someone else.
Someone else said: "Bestie the fact you were able to pick it up afterwards? Stronger than me."
Zoe has also had trouble with a huntsman spider, as she showed in another video.
That video prompted many people to say they would not live in Australia with its dangerous creepy crawlies.
