Woman feels 'broken' after discovering hundreds of voicemails from stranger

A woman says she feels 'broken' after discovering hundreds of voicemails on her phone, from a blocked number which she didn't recognise.

The TikTok user, who posts from the handle @waifoodd.png, was clearing out her voicemails, when she discovered hundreds of messages dating back more than a year, all from the same woman.

In the messages, the woman could be heard saying "I miss you," and "I love you," over and over, as well as crying down the phone.

After listening to more of the messages, the 28-year-old TikToker realised the messages weren't from a stalker, and they were in fact from a woman who had lost her husband and was leaving messages for her deceased partner on his old number.

"You're just trying to clear your voicemails and notice a number you don't recognise in blocked numbers ... that has been leaving you voicemails since July 8, 2020," the TikToker wrote alongside a clip of herself crying.

"All the voicemails consist of 'I miss you' and and 'I hope you're okay' and long pauses and what sounds to be soft crying?"

The 28-year-old then shared a screengrab from her phone, showing all the messages she'd been receiving, sometimes having four missed voicemails per day from the grieving lady.

She quietly played one of the messages out loud, in which the woman can be heard saying: "It's just me, you've been on my mind. I'll catch you later, bye."

The TikTok user continued: "Then you realise it's this old lady leaving voicemails to her [late] husband..."

In the comments section, the TikToker asked for advice on whether she should call the lady or just continue allowing her to leave the messages, and she later concluded that she would leave the woman to it, as many suggested it was probably a much-needed coping mechanism for her.

Many people also commented to say they have similar coping mechanisms, and regularly leave messages for loved ones who have passed away. Here's to hoping this lady gets the closure she needs.
