Woman feared the worst when she saw note left on her car windscreen

A woman was "shocked" and "overwhelmed" when she saw an item left on her car windscreen.

Libbie Cowburn, 21, was parked outside St Peter's Church, Birkdale where she and her mother-in-law were selling hair scrunchies and tote bags at at a craft fair.

The nursery assistant, who started sewing during the January lockdown, felt rough and tired after a "horrendous" year with a death in the family and six bouts of tonsillitis.

All those emotions "boiled up" when she saw the note on the window.

Libbie told the ECHO : "I was a bit shocked, and then I felt really overwhelmed that it happened to me."

She added: "I thought it was going to be a parking notice, like somebody saying how bad my parking is.

"I just assumed it wouldn't be something very nice, or like a little leaflet or something, but it was a really nice surprise."

A closer look sparked joy in the Pretty Cow By Libs creator.

Libbie said: "It made me feel quite emotional actually.

"I think Christmas this year is a really special one after the year everybody's had, myself included. It's been a particularly rough year.

"It made me feel quite emotional just thinking that somebody has taken the time out of their day to make somebody else's day, and I just thought it was such a really sweet gesture."

Instead of an angry note, a kind stranger placed a red and white candy cane with 'Merry Christmas' written on an attached gift label.

Keen to pass on the positivity she felt on Saturday, December 18, Libbie is urging people to spread kindness this festive season.

She said: "Remember that we've all had a particularly bad year and, no matter who you come into contact with, just spread a bit of kindness.

"Make other people happy as well as enjoying your own Christmas."
