Woman expected to be charged over death of pedestrian

A 61-year-old woman is likely to be charged following the death of a pedestrian hit in Lyneham last Friday.

The driver was suspected of negligent driving, resulting in the death of an 84-year-old man.

The man was struck by a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Brigalow and Hall streets at about 5.30pm on June 18.

He was transported to hospital but died of his injuries yesterday.

Following an investigation, police expect to charge via summons the 61-year-old woman who was the driver of the vehicle with negligent driving causing death.

She will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.

This is the sixth fatality on ACT roads in 2021.
