Woman escapes serious injury after car flips

A woman escaped serious injury after emergency crews rescued her from a car which flipped on to its roof.

The car landed on its roof at the junction of Heatherside Road and Ramsbottom Lane, in Ramsbottom.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 8.26pm on Tuesday (October 8) to free a woman trapped inside the car.

She was then taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service.

A police spokeswoman said the woman was not seriously injured.

Ramsbottom Lane and Stubbins Lane were sealed off while emergency services attended the scene, but the junction has since re-opened.

Fire crews left the crash scene at around 9.45pm.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 8.24pm last night police were called to reports of a one vehicle collision.

"The woman was not seriously injured."

The spokeswoman added the incident was not being investigated by GMP's collision unit.
