Woman drowns in Lake Jindabyne

A woman drowned in Lake Jindabyne on Monday afternoon.

The woman, 36, was pulled from the lake unconscious about 5pm, emergency services say.

It's believed she was swimming near the boat ramp on Kosciuszko Road before she disappeared under the water and did not resurface.

A paramedic entered the water on a paddle board and found the woman and brought her to shore.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said bystanders tried to revive the woman with CPR but she died at the scene.

NSW police say the woman is yet to be formally identified.

An investigation into the death has been launched and a crime scene has been set up. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
