A shocking video shows a woman driving over the graves of dozens of war veterans while hurrying to avoid traffic.
The chaotic incident took place at Houston National Cemetery in Texas after a flyover to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Sunday, the outlet KTRK reports.
Witnesses say the woman had been watching the ceremony, in honour of the end of the Second World War in Europe, but became impatient while waiting in a queue of cars for the exit.
She was caught on camera as she ran amok in her red SUV, running over multiple graves.
Amanda Hill, whose grandfather Robert Eugene Marsh and his wife Ruth are among those buried in the cemetery, said the driver took no notice of relatives who shouted and begged her to stop.
Her mother resorted to trying to physically defend the grave of her grandfather, who served during the war as a First Lieutenant in the Air Force carrying out bombing raids in Germany, by standing in front of it.
She attempted to reason with the woman and ask her to stop, but was forced out of the way as the van drove towards her.
"'I felt bad for the families whose loved ones' graves were run over," Ms Hill said.
"It's so disrespectful and especially on a day when we're honouring veterans of World War ll."
The driver has yet to be named or identified.
Jeremiah Johnston, who filmed the shocking scene, said he "never would have expected" such a thing to happen.
"This is Houston, and there are crazy drivers, and I never would have expected to see them going through a cemetery. Especially when everyone was there to pay their respects during a patriotic flyover."
The Harris County Constable's Office says it has not been alerted to the incident.
