Woman dragged, trapped under car in Sydney

A Sydney motorist will face court after a woman was hit by a car and dragged about 100 metres. (AAP)

A young woman has suffered confronting injuries after she was dragged 100 metres and wound up beneath a car in Sydney's south.

Police have charged a motorist with high-range drink driving after the woman was struck about 12.40am on Sunday.

It took firefighters more than an hour to free the 27-year-old from beneath the vehicle.

She was taken to hospital with significant injuries to her right leg and arm.

Police allege the 58-year-old woman who was behind the wheel returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.166.

She's been charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and high-range drink driving and will front court on Wednesday.
