Woman disgusted as carvery 'wraps up leftovers in clingfilm'

A woman was horrified after Toby Carvery gave her cling film to wrap up her leftover Sunday roast, she claims. Trinity Martin, 18, and three family members went to the Maes Knoll branch in Bristol on Sunday (18).

She went for a big plate of food including roast potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, mash, peas and cauliflower - but Trinity couldn't manage it all and wanted to save some for later.

They asked for a box to take away their leftovers and she claims they were told they couldn’t have one - and were given cling film instead. The family left with a “vile” cling film wrapped roast - which they ended up throwing in the bin when they arrived home.

Trinity, a trainee lash technician from Knowle Park, Bristol, said: “It looked vile. We were very shocked. We were laughing because everyone around us were giving weird looks.

“We thought the waitress was joking at first but she wasn’t.

“We brought it home because we didn’t want to be rude, but we didn’t actually eat it because it looked gross.”

Toby Carvery has been approached for a comment. Toby Carvey has previously launched a campaign to make sure uneaten food isn’t wasted - selling bags full it for under £4 in a bid to combat food waste. The popular chain offered “Magic Bags” of food which include fan favourites of Yorkshire puddings, meat and veg.

To avoid binning the unused roast dinner, the bags are available at the end of the day for anyone who wants to buy them. These Magic Bags are available at 153 restaurants across the country.

The bags can be purchased from the Too Good To Go app for £3.29 or £2.29 for the vegetarian option. There are a limited number of bags up for grabs each day so people were told to act quickly.
