Woman discovers 'life-changing' trick for scrubbing stains from her sofa with a pan lid

We spend a lot of time on our sofas, particularly in the colder winter months where cosying up to watch a new series with a hot chocolate is more than appealing. However, this can lead to dreaded spillages which leave marks that are difficult to lift - especially when your couch is crafted from a fabric like suede or velvet.

Thankfully, a new stain-banishing trick has been taking TikTok by storm, as cleaning lovers have found a simple way to lift marks or stains from fabric using items you'll likely already have in your cupboards. One woman has dubbed the hack as 'life-changing' as she got to work on her stained sofa and revealed fabric that looks as good as new.

Taking to TikTok to share a tutorial for the hack, Brynee, who posts under the handle @ clean_with_brynee, simply dissolved some dishwasher powder in a bowl with some boiling water, before adding a microfibre cloth into the bowl, making sure it is fully soaked in the liquid.

She then wraps the cloth around a saucepan lid, before tying the top part of the cloth around the nob on the pan lid with what looks to be a hair tie.

Then, after vacuuming her stained sofa to get it ready for a deep clean, she scrubs the fabric with the pan lid, working in sections and going back and forth to ensure every area has been treated.

As she starts to scrub, the video has the words "omg look how good it works already" running across the screen.

The spillage stains have practically disappeared thanks to the trick, leaving the fabric looking and smelling fresh.

Even darker marks on the woman's sofa come up with ease, making transformation is seriously impressive.

Many TikTok users rushed to the comments on the video to praise the hack, and quizzed Brynee on what dishwasher powder she used.

She said: "It's called 'Pam's lemon dishwasher powder'. Just a cheap dishwashing powder from the supermarket".

Other cleaning buffs have used a dishwasher tablet to the same effect - it seems work just as well with with whatever you have in.

One woman couldn't wait to try the hack, as she said: "I have the same lounge in one of my loungerooms and it gets filthy! I'm going to try it!! My one is the exact same colour as yours aswell [sic]".

Another said "I’m sooo doing this tomorrow wow" while a third added "its [sic] the water stains that just go away for me".
