Woman dies on Glasgow street as cops launch probe after huge emergency response

A woman has been found dead on a Glasgow street in 'unexplained' circumstances.

Police and ambulance crews raced to Gogar Street amid reports the 42-year-old had taken unwell.

Locals reported seeing a helicopter circling the scene while an area near a block of flats was cordoned off with police tape.

She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of rescuers.

Cops say they are treating the death as unexplained but that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.05pm on Monday, 21 June, officers were called to a report of a woman taken unwell on Gogar street, Glasgow.

"The 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained, however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
