A woman has died after a horror crash involving three cars in Hyde , police have confirmed.
It happened on Stockport Road in Hyde , near the Joshua Bradley pub on the border with Woodley, Stockport , at around 1:40pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say they were called after a collision involving a BMW, a Kia and a Renault.
Emergency services raced to the scene with the air ambulance seen landing nearby.
A woman was cut from one of the cars, with firefighters also cutting free a man in another of the vehicles.
However the woman was sadly pronounced dead, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed.
Her age or any other details are not yet known.
The two men were taken to hospital by ambulance and one of them has suffered serious injuries.
In a statement this evening GMP said: "At 1.40pm today, Wednesday 26 February 2020, police were called to reports of a three-car collision on Stockport Road, Woodley.
"The collision involved a BMW, a Kia and a Renault.
"One female was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Two men have been taken to hospital, one of whom has serious injuries.
"No arrests have been made.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
The road remains closed this evening as officers deal with the aftermath and begin their investigation into what happened.
Surrounding routes such as Werneth Low Road became severely congested as a result during rush hour.
Commuters were urged to avoid the area if at all possible to use the M67 and M60 to travel between Hyde and Stockport.
