Woman dies in Scottish city shopping centre as police launch investigation

AN investigation has been launched after a woman died at a Glasgow shopping centre.

Emergency services were called to Shawlands Arcade, located in the city’s Southside, at around 9.55am this morning, July 2.

Police were called to the shopping centre after being alerted to the death of a 53-year-old woman within one of the premises inside the shopping centre.

Officers have confirmed that the death is being treated as unexplained, although there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.55am on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, officers were made aware of the death of a 53-year-old woman at a premises at Shawlands Arcade in Glasgow.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
