Woman dies in incident on M9 after cops closed Stirling motorway

A woman has died in an incident on the M9 after the motorway was closed in both directions in Stirling.

Cops raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at 4.50pm on Saturday amid a concern for a person.

The busy motorway was shut between Junctions 9 and 10, causing heavy traffic and tailbacks.

Police Scotland confirmed a woman died in the incident which is no longer ongoing.

The M9 is now open to motorists and traffic is no longer being diverted.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "M9 Dumbarton road - J9 (Bannockburn) - Closure, All lanes closed Eastbound has been cleared."

A police spokesperson said: "Around 4.50pm on Saturday January 30, police received a report of a concern for person on the M9 southbound Torbrex Flyover."
