A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a woman died in hospital on Monday.
A 48-year-old woman from Mold was admitted to Wrexham Maelor Hospital on Friday, July 17.
But her condition deteriorated and she died on Monday night.
A spokesman for North Wales Police said an investigation has been launched into the circumstances leading up to her admittance.
They are also aware of a previous allegation of assault which is believed to have taken place between July 2 and July 8.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
A statement from the force said: "We are investigating the circumstances leading up to her admittance, and are aware of a previous allegation of assault which is believed to have taken place between July 2 and 8.
"On Saturday, July 18, a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of S18 Assault and released on police bail pending further enquiries."
S18 Assault is often described as "wounding with intent", or "causing grievous bodily harm with intent."
