Woman dies in hospital after being hit by car in Stockport

A woman has died in hospital after she was hit by a car in Stockport last month.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Dovedale Road at around 5pm on Monday, November 20.

A Hyundai I10 hit a woman, believed to be in her 60s, and two parked vehicles, police said.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she passed away on Sunday 13 December.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

He is assisting police with the investigation, GMP said.

Officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit have opened and enquiry and are appealing for the public to come forward with information.

John Harrison-Gough of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the woman's loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

"The driver of the vehicle is assisting us with our enquiries but I would appeal to anyone else with information or dash cam footage from the area at the time to contact us and pass it on."

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting 1918 30/11/2020 or the independent charity - Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
