Woman dies in horror two-car crash on A75 near Annan

A woman has died ain a horror car crash on the A75 near Annan.

Medics pronounced the 55-year-old woman dead at the scene on Gretna road near to Nutberry yesterday at around 4.20pm.

She had been driving a white Nissan Qashqai when she collided with a grey Volkswagen Golf.

The 52-year-old male driver of the Golf was rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.

The tragic incident sparked traffic chaos closing the road for approximately eight hours.

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing to the public for information.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven, of Dumfries and Galloway Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of those involved with this tragic incident.

“Our enquiries are ongoing into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and we would ask that if anyone was in the area at the time of the incident that they contact officers.

“I would also ask that if anyone has any possible dashcam footage of the area to get in touch with police.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2196 of 5 August.”
