Woman dies in Crumlin, Dublin house fire despite brave neighbours' efforts

A woman has tragically died in a house fire despite her neighbours' desperate efforts to save her.

The blaze broke out shortly after 8pm on Stannaway Avenue in the south Dublin suburb of Crumlin.

A witness told Dublin Live neighbours were alerted when they saw smoke billowing from the home.

The woman appeared at an upstairs bedroom window frantically calling for help.

Neighbours tried to access the bedroom but were unable to save the woman.

Multiple units from Dublin Fire Brigade raced to the scene and brought the blaze under control but the woman was sadly discovered dead inside the house.

Gardai remain at the scene and an investigation into the incident has been launched.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal house fire at Stannaway Avenue, Dublin.

"The body of one female, aged in her 50s was discovered deceased.

"Her body remains at the scene which is currently preserved for examination. Investigations ongoing."
