Woman dies at Bracklinn Falls near Callander after major rescue operation

A woman has died after getting into difficulty in water at Bracklinn Falls near Callander.

A major multi-agency rescue operation was launched this morning amid reports of people in the water near to the Perthshire town.

One of the women was recovered by rescue crews, the other tragically passed away at the scene.

A search helicopter could be seen hovering over the waterfall area within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park for large parts of the operation.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in Forth Valley responded alongside other emergency services to the Bracklinn Falls area of Callander at 11:30am today following reports of two women experiencing difficulties in the water.

"While one was safely recovered, sadly the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing".
