Woman dies and two others rushed to hospital after horror car crash in Co Limerick

A woman has died and two others were rushed to hospital after a horror car crash in Co Limerick.

The incident happened at Garrienderk near Kilmallock in Co Limerick at around 2.30pm on Sunday.

Gardai and emergency services raced to the scene after the two-car collision.

The driver and only occupant of one of the cars, a woman in her late 30s, was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital after the crash.

Officers have now confirmed that she has since passed away.

While the female driver and male passenger of the other vehicle, both aged in their 70s, were taken to Cork University Hospital.

It is understood that their injuries are non-life-threatening.

The road was closed for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, but has since reopened.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information, or any drivers who were in the area at the time, to come forward.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí at Charleville in Cork are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who were travelling in the area and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Charleville Garda Station on 063 21770, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
