Woman dies after suffering medical episode on Seaham seafront

A woman has died after suffering a medical episode on Seaham seafront on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services attended the scene on North Road but the woman did not survive despite efforts of paramedics.

Police, paramedics and the Great North Air Ambulance were all called to try and save the woman.

Now Durham Constabulary have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "Paramedics requested police attendance at North Road, in Seaham, at 6.50pm yesterday (January 12) after a woman suffered a medical episode in the street.

"Tragically, the woman did not survive. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report will now be prepared for the coroner."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on North Road in Seaham at 6.41pm this evening. We dispatched two ambulance crews and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service."
