A woman has died after falling from a bridge over the M60 on Tuesday morning (May 18).
Officers were called to the M60, between junction 6 and 7, at around 7.50am to reports that a woman had fallen from a bridge on a section of the motorway close to Sale Waterpark in Trafford.
Emergency services quickly attended the scene and closed off both motorway junctions.
Traffic was diverted from junction 8 alongside the parallel slip road in order to re-join at junction 6.
The affected junctions were later re-opened around five hours later, at approximately 1.05pm.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
A spokesperson for GMP confirmed: “Officers were called around 7.50am today (Tuesday 18 May 2021) to the M60, between junction 6 and 7, to a report of a woman falling from a bridge.
“Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
