Woman dies after crash on Belfast Road in Downpatrick

A woman has died after a crash in Co Down on Saturday night.

The crash happened on the Belfast Road in Downpatrick and involved one vehicle before 11pm.

The road has reopened and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police can confirm that a woman has died following a single vehicle road traffic collision on the Belfast Road in Downpatrick last night (Saturday, October 31).

"Anyone with any information relating to the incident is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 2378 of 31/10/20."

In a statement, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed that they attended with a number of crews.

A spokesman said on Sunday morning: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 10.46pm on Saturday October 31 following reports of a single vehicle RTC on Belfast Road, Downpatrick.

"NIAS despatched two Emergency Crews, one HART team and a doctor to the incident."

The spokesman added: "No patient was taken from the scene."
