A woman has died following a car crashed into a lorry on the A75 in the Borders .
Police were called to a two vehicle smash on the major road near Palnure around 2.40pm on Wednesday October 2.
The 57-year-old was driving a silver Toyota Aygo when it collided with a white Volvo articulated lorry.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers closed the road while they examined the site, but it was reopened around 11.30pm the same day.
The lorry driver, a 54-year-old man from Garlieston, was uninjured.
His passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was checked over in hospital and later released.
Police Constable Caillie Douce of the Roads Policing Unit said: "Inquiries into the cause of this collision are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed it to call us on the 101 number quoting the reference number 2135 2/10.
"Anyone who may have captured this collision on a dash-cam is also asked to call this number."
