Woman dies after being run over in suspected carjacking, driver arrested following manhunt

Police investigate the death of a woman who was run down by a car in Mirrabooka.

A woman has died in hospital after what is believed to have been an attempted carjacking in the Perth suburb of Mirrabooka, which led to a manhunt through the city's northern suburbs.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 50s, was seriously injured after being hit by the car in Cedar Court — a cul-de-sac — just before 10:00am.

She died in hospital a short time later.

The car remained outside the home on Friday afternoon while the male driver, who allegedly fled on foot, was arrested about 10 kilometres away in Hamersley following a 90-minute manhunt across the northern suburbs.

Detectives and forensic police cordoned off the street in Mirrabooka as they investigated the incident and interviewed neighbours.

Police are yet to reveal what sparked the incident or confirm if the woman was the victim of an attempted carjacking.

Police said the man was being questioned but had not been charged so far.
