Woman dies after being hit by car while crossing Scots street

A woman has died after she was hit by a car while crossing a street in East Dunbartonshire.

The 37-year-old had been crossing Baljaffray Road - near the Lidl on Grampian Way - in Bearsden on Monday.

At around 7.50pm, the pedestrian was hit by a black Fiat Panda and emergency services soon rushed to the incident.

However, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, according to Police Scotland.

The road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to examine it with a full investigation now underway.

Sergeant Roy McCarney, of Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would like to appeal to people who witnessed the incident to contact us.

"I would also ask anyone with dash cam devices to check the footage as they may hold information which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3189 of 29 November, 2021.
