A woman has tragically died after being hit by a car in Glasgow.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Balmore Road in the north east of the city at around 6.35pm on Saturday night.
Police have today advised the woman was crossing the road, close to its junction with Haywood Street, when she was struck by a Ford Focus.
Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 49-year-old man driving the car was uninjured.
Police have now launched an investigation into the fatal crash and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
A Police Scotland statement issued this afternoon advised: "Officers from the Road Policing Unit in Glasgow are appealing for information on a fatal road crash on Balmore Road, Glasgow.
"Around 6.35pm on Saturday, 27 November, the woman was crossing Balmore Road, near to its junction with Haywood Street, when she was struck by a Ford Focus being driven by a 49-year-old man.
"Police and Ambulance attended however the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The driver of the car was uninjured."
Sergeant Alan Cook from the Road Policing Unit at Govan said: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the woman at this time.
"Our enquiries are ongoing into the cause of this crash and I would urge any witnesses to the crash, or anyone driving on this road shortly before the crash happened to contact us as soon as possible. I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage that may assist our enquiry to contact us."
