Woman dies after being hit by car in Sandiacre, police confirm

A woman was killed after being hit by a car in Sandiacre, police have confirmed.

Police were appealing for information after the fatal collision in Derby Road, Sandiacre.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed.

Officers investigating the fatal collision have since located the driver of a Toyota Aygo following an earlier appeal.

The driver is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

Any other drivers who were in the area at the time are asked to get in touch with police, particularly those with dash cam installed.

The Red Lion and White Lion pubs, which are around 120 metres apart, were cordoned off by police. There was a lorry within the cordon in the Red Lion pub car park.

Numerous roads were also closed, taking in much of the town centre, while police conducted an investigation in the area.

A Derbyshire police spokesman added: "If you believe you have video that may help the investigation then it should be downloaded to an external device and secured for officers to view.

"Anyone with information should quote reference number 252 of April 17 in any correspondence and the name of the officer in the case Sergeant Scott Riley.

"You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
