Woman dies after being attacked by two dogs at house

A woman has died after being attacked by two dogs at a house in Wolverhampton.

Emergency services were sent to Willis Pearson Avenue at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, following reports that a woman in her seventies was being attacked by two dogs.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman died at the scene.

The dogs were not believed to be a banned breed but were later destroyed due to their continued aggression after emergency services arrived, West Midlands Police said.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death. He was taken to hospital after also receiving injuries to his hand.

Officers are carrying out further inquiries about the two dogs.

The investigation was at an early stage as police tried to establish what had happened, a spokesperson for the force said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact West Midlands Police.
