Woman dies a week after Kerry road crash that claimed life of husband

A woman has died a week after a crash that claimed the life of her husband.

Mary Kelliher passed away at University Hospital Kerry on Saturday, nine days after the collision at around 6.45am on Thursday, January 9 2020. She was in her late 70s.

Her husband Eddie also lost his life following the crash at Finnegan's Cross in Kilcummin, Co Kerry.

Another woman involved in the incident had been hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.

A death notice for Eddie, a Kilcummin local from Leamnaguilla, on rip.ie read: "Suddenly following a road traffic accident, Eddie, beloved husband of Mary and loving father of Jimmy, John, Eamon and Marie. Very sadly missed and dearly loved by his family, daughters-in-law Brenda and Mary Teresa, grandchildren Colm, James, Hannah, Abbie, Thomas and Anna, sister Breda, brother-in-law Pat, sister-in-law Julia, nieces and nephew,relatives, neighbours and many friends."

Mr Kelliher was buried last Sunday at Kilquane Graveyard, Barraduff, Killarney following a service at the Church of St. Gertrude, Firies.

Gardai last week appealed for witnesses to the collision.

A Garda spokesperson said: ""Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users travelling in the area at the time of the collision who may have camera footage to contact Killarney Garda station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
