Woman died of Covid related heart attack minutes after calling for ambulance

A 66-year-okd woman died of a heart attack caused by Covid 23 minutes after dialling 999 and calling for an ambulance.

Patricia Brown was found dead at home by paramedics after she called for an ambulance at 8.50am on November 8

She told operatives she was having trouble breathing and had chest pain, reports StokeonTrentLive.

Assistant coroner Mark Henley said: "The total time between the 999 call first being placed and them arriving at her home is 23 minutes.

"They gained entry using a key safe for which she has given the number for when she called 999. It was a relatively short period of time.

"The crew found her already dead."

The inquest heard Patricia tested positive for Covid on October 11. By November 5 she reported feeling better but felt 'shaky in her legs with shortness of breath'.

Sister Christine Sturge said: "We would hate to think that she lay suffering for a long time by herself."

Coroner Mark Henley gave the medical cause of death as an acute cardiovascular event caused by a Covid-19 infection.

She died of natural causes.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "One ambulance attended the scene. On arrival, we discovered one patient, a woman. Unfortunately, it became clear that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
