Woman describes sex attacker at bus stop as man with 'Tesco bag and a small tooth'

A woman was sexually attacked by a man with a "small tooth" while waiting at a bus stop.

The victim, in her 20's, was standing on Ullet Road, close to Princes Park in Toxteth, when a man approached her and tried to strike up a conversation.

He then touched her a number of times during the horrendous sexual assault before running off in the direction of Devonshire Road.

After he left, the woman rang police and was able to provide a description of her attacker to officers.

He was described as a dark skinned male in his 40's and is believed to be around 5ft 9in tall.

She said he was of a skinny build and wearing a dark coat and jeans at the time of the attack.

The victim said he was carrying a Tesco carrier bag when he assaulted her and had one smaller tooth next to his front teeth.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We’re appealing for information following a sexual assault in Toxteth in February.

What to do if you're a victim of a sex crime

"At around 9.30pm on Wednesday, 26 February, a woman in her 20’s was waiting by a bus stop on Ullet Road, near Princes Park, when she was approached by a man.

"It was reported the man tried to engage in conversation with her, before touching her inappropriately a number of times.

"He ran off in the direction of Devonshire Road and the victim called the police."

Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson: “We are carrying out a number of enquires to locate the offender and would ask anyone with information, or CCTV or dashcam from Ullet Road, Devonshire Road or the surrounding areas to please get in touch.

“This would’ve no doubt been an incredibly distressing ordeal for the victim and we are working to ensure the person responsible is removed from our streets.”
