Woman defends herself after trolls brand bikini pics during job-hunting 'inappropriate'

A British woman backpacking around Australia received backlash on social media after sharing an image of herself in a bikini while looking for bartender work.

Teddie Swan, a 24-year-old from London, decided to backpack around Australia and opted to supplement her travels by picking up work in a bar.

The globetrotter has been pouring drinks for the last six weeks – but needs a new gig when she continues her journey Down Under after Christmas.

Teddie decided to post to Facebook in hopes of finding some leads and landing herself some work.

“I will then be looking for work, ideally with accommodation, in the new year," she shared on the Backpacker Jobs in Australia group on Facebook.

“I’m willing to travel anywhere for the right position and currently have my own car.

"I have previous experience in retail, the pharmacy, childcare and working as an Ambulance driver. I look forward to hearing from you!"

The globe-trotter has been pouring drinks for the last six weeks – but needs a new gig when she continues her journey Down Under after Christmas, the Daily Star reports.

Teddie also noted that she is travelling with her cousin so is “open to positions for multiple people".

Despite promoting her skills and what she is looking for, not everyone was too pleased with her job advertisement.

Along with her short description, Teddie added a number of photos of herself to the job post.

This included a snap of herself cuddling a goat and in a paramedic uniform.

But, some believe the backpacker's bikini pictures are "inappropriate" and shouldn't be used when looking for a job.

One person warned: "As a female solo traveller myself I’d be careful with pictures like yours while asking for a job.

"Be careful out there."

Another user slammed: "If I were looking for work I would NOT post a photo of myself wearing a bikini."

Meanwhile, a third jibed: "It may be a backpackers group but when you're looking for a job, act accordingly."

While some took issue with Teddie's choice of photos, others defended her.

One user said: "This is Australia and heaps of tourists come here for our relaxed, beach culture. She's not going for an $80k salaried position for f*** sake."

Teddie refused to let the negativity bring her down.

She quickly jumped to her own defence, adding: "To anyone saying they wouldn’t give me work because of the photos I have posted, you would equally not be someone I would like to work for."

The backpacker claimed that she has now been "inundated" with job offers despite dealing with "jealous" people.
