Woman dead in Melbourne's east after reports of assault at Croydon North property

A woman has died and a man is assisting police with their enquiries after reports of an assault in Melbourne's outer east.

Police said emergency services were called to the Patrick Avenue address, in Croydon North, about 10:15pm on Saturday.

"Paramedics worked on a woman found with critical injuries," a police spokesperson said.

"Sadly, the woman — who is yet to be formally identified — died at the scene."

Homicide squad detectives are investigating the death.

A 40-year-old Croydon North man is assisting police with their enquiries.
