A woman in India cut off her alleged stalker's penis to "teach him a lesson" for persistently harassing her, police said.
The 42-year-old woman and two men lured her neighbour, 25, to an isolated spot in Mumbai where he was attacked.
Police said she used a kitchen knife to cut off his penis.
In a statement to officers, she said the victim had harassed her several times.
She decided to "teach him a lesson", a police inspector added. But she then realised he could die and rushed him to hospital.
"He is on ventilator support and is still critical," a doctor at the hospital said.
Police said both the knife and the genitals have been recovered. The woman and her two alleged acquaintances are in police custody.
Sexual violence and harassment of women have been a growing concern in India in recent years and police and governments have been criticised for failing to keep the streets of major cities safe.
