A woman had to be cut from the wreckage of a car after a "serious" crash led to a huge emergency services response on Saturday afternoon.
Police, the fire service and an air ambulance descended on Childwall Valley Road, Belle Vale, just after 2pm on Saturday, 8 August following a crash involving two cars.
The ECHO understands that a woman in one of the vehicles needed to be cut from the vehicle by firefighters following a serious crash.
A witness at the scene told the ECHO : "It looks like a serious accident has happened. There are so many ambulances, fire engines and an air ambulance."
Photos from the scene show a red hatchback with extensive damage to its front which remained parked on Chislehurst Avenue later this afternoon.
Police confirmed that the woman had to be cut out of the vehicle and that the crash involved two cars.
In a statement on the incident, a Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We received reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision on Childwall Valley Road.
"We were called just after 2pm.
"There was a female trapped in one of vehicles, it appears the fire service has now cut her out."
The extent of the woman's injuries are currently unclear although the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
