Woman cut free from vehicle after road traffic collision in Levenshulme

A woman had to be cut free from a car after two vehicles have been involved in a road traffic collision in south Manchester this morning.

Emergency services were called to Mount Road in Levenshulme at 11.09am on Thursday (January 2) with reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service confirmed that two fire engines from Gorton and a tactical fire unit from Ashton-under-Lyne were called to the scene.

Fire crews used cutting equipment to remove one female from a vehicle, who is being treated at the scene by ambulance and police crews.

Residents on social media reported a large emergency services presence in the area, with one person posting: "Anybody know what’s happened near St Marks church ? Lots of fire engines and ambulances ??"

Local residents also reported slight traffic delays around the Broom Lane and Mount Road areas.

At 12.36pm, MancTraffic tweeted: "Barlow Rd, Levenshulme CLOSED from Broom Lane to Mount Rd after a crash near to Trawlers.

"Barlow Rd and Manor Rd are busy as traffic diverts."

At 2pm, ambulance services confirmed that nobody has been sent to hospital following the incident and that the scene has now been cleared.
